We are in Colorado exploring and enjoying the mountains and countryside, but feeling quite unsettled. Many things are not formed yet. Jerry’s job is still in start-up mode. I’m looking for retreat resorts, and, areas to live. We have no permanent place to call home yet; no established structures nor routines. It is a new way, a new area, a new community. Although it can feel freeing at times, it can also feel uncertain and unnerving.
The other day when I felt impatient and frustrated and wanted to push the river, I played the MOVES game. The first card asked: “Describe an event when you were young that was one of your favorite times. How did it feel?” Two events came to mind: 1) playing the game, Concentration, Concentration, now begins, Keep in Rhythm…. We played with multiple families and as a younger one, I seemed to win a lot. 🙂 2) Tap dancing on stage when young. The other dancer’s would follow my lead when they’d lose their way; rhythm is a natural ability for me. The next card I picked: “Take time out to breathe and listen within. What do you hear?” As I focused on my breathing and found space, I found the rhythm of my breath and felt peaceful. I was reminded that all things have a rhythm, a cycle and a season. And I can relax. As always, the game cards restored my wisdom.
